FROZEN THE TIME
Animated GIFs Cinemagraph by Jason Wang
This project is inspired to create four cinemagraphs while capturing a moment of thinking in time. The idea of cinemagraphs was first developed by British photographer Jamie Beck and motion graphics artist Kevin Burg. They combined the animated GIFs with digital photograph to elevate images to cinemagraphs and created something more than a photo but less than a video.
In this project, a series of four photos signify a time of reading and thinking. Each image signifies the moment time on reading, concentrating, thinking, and gracing. However, beyond the ordinary frame photograph, this project applies the motion-graphics moments into each image. Indeed, this project represents that the time of movements can breath into life by manual editing of GIF format photographs. Therefore, I believe that this project is not only drawing out a moment but also exploring that the movement of time can be frozen forever in photography.
